Hotas 4 or Hotas 5 MSFS Edition for MSFS 2024 on PS5?

MSFS Setup · Methodology · Checked 2026-10-13

These are the two PS5 sticks with an MSFS 2024 profile from Microsoft or Thrustmaster. The Hotas 5 is the newer, MSFS-licensed one. The Hotas 4 has the longer track record. The August 2026 update changed how both behave. A third stick, the Hotas Neo, also runs MSFS 2024: Legacy mode uses the Hotas 4 profile, and PS5 mode does not include one.

Short answer Take the Hotas 5 MSFS Edition if the price is close, since it has more buttons and is made for MSFS 2024. Take the Hotas 4 if it is cheaper or in stock. Neither is a yoke, and both are entry-level sticks.

What changed in August 2026

MSFS 2024 changed the PS5 profiles for both sticks. Thrustmaster’s article says the Hotas 5 in Blue mode is no longer detected as a Hotas 4, custom profiles made before the update are gone, and the Hotas 5 in Red mode needs a custom profile. Owner reports and fixes are in the Sim Update 6 guide.

How owners describe them

Posts in the MSFS forum from late 2025 call the Hotas 4 usable but limited in build quality and precision for larger aircraft, and one owner of several Thrustmaster console sticks says they wear quickly. Those are individual opinions. In that thread the Hotas 4 was the only PS5 stick anyone named.

After the update, one owner reported the Hotas 5 in Red mode stopping responding mid-flight, and said Blue mode did not do that. It is a single report.
